Flash 500 aren’t just looking for 500-word stories, they also hold other writing competitions. Here are details of their current short story competition:
It’s an open-themed competition. All genres are accepted, including those written by or for children. They also welcome adult material as long as the content fits the story and is not gratuitous.
Stories should be between 1,000 and 3,000 words. Here’s what they’re looking for, in their own words:
“A story with strong characters, a well-crafted plot and realistic dialogue (where used). Make us laugh, make us cry, but most of all, make us feel!”
Entries need to be in by 28th February 2018.
Prizes:
1st: £500
2nd: £200
3rd: £100
The entry fees are dependent on the number of stories entered. To check this and for other details, visit the competition page.
