The A-Z Of Writing Ideas – G Is For…

Welcome to the seventh instalment in my weekly writing series. Each week, I give you an idea – whether it’s a magazine to write for, a theme for a short story, the opening line of a poem…Here are the first , second , third , fourth , fifth and sixth in the series.

This week, it’s  the letter G‘s turn. And G is for Ghost.

Everyone loves a ghost story, don’t they? If you do, then there are plenty of fiction markets out there, which welcome ghost stories. Some of the women’s weeklies feature a tale with a supernatural slant. There are also small press markets to consider in this genre such as Scribble magazine. You’ll also find plenty of writing competitions inviting ghost stories. Writing Magazine hold an annual ghost story.

As well as fiction markets, there are lots of non-fiction publications, which are looking for true-life unexplained encounters and/or interesting articles on the subject. Here are a few for you to look at:

Fate and Fortune Magazine

Chat, It’s Fate

Haunted Times

Fate Magazine

I meant to write for Scribble a long time ago but it somehow got left out and forgotten. Thanks for bringing it back to my attention. 🙂

  2. Ah … seen one – wrote the story last year for a’Halloween’ poetry competition … maybe revisit with a touch of editing this year for a book of lines & poems – as you know, mostly weird the way I write them!
