Funny Of The Week/They Don’t Make ’em Like They Used To Part Three

This series of Funny of the Week is one of nostalgia, where we take a trip back in time to newspaper ads of old. Though, you wouldn’t see any ads like these now… If you missed part one, click here. Here’s part two. And if you’re not sure what you want for Christmas, you might find this useful…

  1. Lucy Brazier says:

    Seems reasonable to me…

  2. Almost from the stone age and then just last week. Attitudes are often there but differently expressed

  3. My husband’s family likes to joke about the time his father got his mother a waffle iron for Christmas. Guess who benefited from that? Glad times have changed a bit.

  4. Helen says:

Some women did quite well. They got all their clothes paid for routinely, haircuts, holidays and entertainments etc. Housework wasn’t SO awful in exchange – and would have been a lot easier with these time-saving gifts. Lots of modern women have to work, do the housework and buy all their own clothes etc. What’s more how many men still pay when they go out of an evening? All the same I’d rather not live in the past. These gifts don’t have any modern appeal. Thanks for the reminder of how much times have changed, Esther.

  5. I could use one of these to givemy wife to show her what to by ME for Christmas! 😀

  6. Simon says:

Really? I mean like this was serious?? 😀

  7. Ah that reminds me … must go to a car boot sale this weekend!
