Remember the Research
My tip for you this week comes in the form of a reminder. It’s not easy to fit writing into our busy lives, much less spend a lot of time on research. But researching the market you want to write for is so important. It’s no good writing a story or article and then sending it off to a publication you haven’t even looked at. All markets differ in terms of the type of story or article they’re looking for, the length of work they accept, the readership they’re appealing to and so on.
Writing is a highly competitive field as it is. If you don’t take the time to analyse your market, then you greatly reduce your chances of an acceptance.
