My Writing Week

A few weeks ago, I mentioned devising a daily plan and aiming to send work out each day. I’m now starting to see the benefit of this approach, with e-mails confirming two readers’ letters and one tip will be published in future magazines. I’ve also had an article I pitched commissioned and a children’s story accepted. It’s not always easy to keep to a plan but as this shows, it pays off.

The market I’m adding to the ‘More Markets For Freelancers‘ Page is Prima magazine’s ‘Wise Words‘ slot. Prima used to have lots of filler slots, which paid for submissions, including a photos page, a tips page and a slot where readers sent in photos of their favourite holiday destination, amongst others. All have fallen by the wayside (at the moment but the magazine regularly changes these so they could be back. Check an up-to-date copy first) bar the ‘Wise Words‘ slot.

Every month Prima post a question on their Facebook page: e.g. ‘Did you regret throwing something away?’ You then e-mail your answer, in about 50 words, to

Prima pay £25 for each one they use.
